The Programme

The Diwali festival will start at 12:00 with a warm welcome from the Vice Mayor of the City of Amstelveen, Ms. Floor Gordon, accompanied by the Board of the Diwali Festival Foundation. After the first lamps of the festival have been lit on stage as a part of a traditional Indian ceremony with Indian and Dutch children, the festivities will begin!

At the India Diwali Festival one can enjoy a wonderful non-stop stage programme, with a variety of professional dance and musical performances.

The aim of the Diwali Festival is encourage visitors the diversity of India through the various food stalls, musical and dance performances as well as the collaboration between the Netherlands and India. Witness the traditional dance of Tamil Nadu through a dance of Bharatanatyam and the folk dance of Punjab called Bhangra. Local talents will also be performing their Bollywood steps but so will professional break dancers. Of course, the entertainment won’t be complete without the sensational Saxy Mr S and Norman Soares. The day ends with a spectacular fireworks display.

The festival has been a great success for the last 10 editions and we hope that we all can make the 11 annual festival a grand success!
